Resource use pattern analysis for predicting resource availability in opportunistic grids
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work presents a method for predicting resource availability in opportunistic grids by means of Use Pattern Analysis (UPA), a technique based on non-supervised learning methods. This prediction method is based on the assumption of the existence of several classes of computational resource use patterns, which can be used to predict resource availability. Trace-driven simulations validate this basic assumptions, which also provide the parameter settings for the accurate learning of resource use patterns. Experiments made with an implementation of the UPA method show the feasibility of its use in the scheduling of grid tasks with very little overhead. The experiments also demonstrate the method’s superiority over other predictive and non-predictive methods. An adaptative prediction method is suggested to deal with lack of training data at initialisation. Further adaptative behaviour is motivated by experiments which show that, in some special environments, reliable resource use patterns may not always be detected.

A New Job Scheduling in Data Grid Environment Based on Data and Computational Resource Availability
Data Grid is an infrastructure that controls huge amount of data files, and provides intensive computational resources across geographically distributed collaboration. The heterogeneity and geographic dispersion of grid resources and applications place some complex problems such as job scheduling. Most existing scheduling algorithms in Grids only focus on one kind of Grid jobs which can be data...
متن کاملUncertain Resource Availabilities: Proactive and Reactive Procedures for Preemptive Resource Constrained project Scheduling Problem
Project scheduling is the part of project management that deals with determining when intime to start (and finish) which activities and with the allocation of scarce resources to theproject activities. In practice, virtually all project managers are confronted with resourcescarceness. In such cases, the Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (RCPSP)arises. This optimization problem has...

The opportunistic tacktik is based on the use of annual plants to feed the livestoke. These low environmental demanding species grow abundantly due to soil seed bank richness. This research is aimed at studying the autecology and forage quality of wild safflower (Carthamus oxyacantha M.B.) as increasing plant and invasive plant at three phenological stages in Zarrindasht rangeland’s ecosystem. ...
متن کاملParticle-size fractions-dependent extracellular enzyme activity in sediments and implications for resource allocation in a subtropical mangrove ecosystem
The distribution of extracellular enzyme activities in particle-size fractions of sediments was investigated in a subtropical mangrove ecosystem. Five enzymes involved in carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) cycling were analyzed in the sand, silt, and clay of sediments. Among these fractions, the highest activities of phenol oxidase (PHO), β-D glucosidase (GLU), and N-acetyl-glucosimin...
متن کاملPerformance analysis of allocation policies for interGrid resource provisioning
Several Grids have been established and used for varying science applications during the last years. Most of these Grids, however, work in isolation and with different utilisation levels. Previous work introduced an architecture and a mechanism to enable resource sharing amongst Grids. It demonstrated that there can be benefits for a Grid to offload requests or provide spare resources to anothe...
